Your Guide To Buy Used Bulldozers

Buying used bulldozers can be a good alternative to purchasing an expensive new bulldozer. One of the best places to look for used dozers, is through online auction houses. Since bulldozers are specialty equipment, it's unlikely, that you'll find a lot of dealerships where you live. Machines that have been sold at liquidation prices can be considerably lower then new.

Don't be afraid to ask the seller for extra pictures and even videos of the machine your looking to buy. These are big ticket items, and you'll want to make sure your getting value for your money. Keep an eye out for brand name dozers, like Caterpillar, New Holland, Case, and John Deere. The other thing to watch out for is maintenance.

A few points of wear you should check on any used bulldozer include interior, exterior, and under the hood. Exterior items to check include head lights, couplers, hydraulic lines and reservoirs, blade assembly, reflectors, and the general condition of the cab. Interior parts that are worth inspecting include mirrors, brakes, steering, seat belts, safety devices, and instrument panels. When looking at a bulldozer engine the following items should be well maintained: belt tension, batteries, radiator fan, motor oil levels, an hoses. Under the category of miscellaneous equipment, check the exhaust system, winch, fire extinguisher, tracks, transom, and transmission.

These are all excellent parts to ask for videos of. If you can see all these parts actually working, it will help access the quality of the bulldozer your buying.

What is Bulldozer?

Bulldozer is a crawler (caterpillar tracked tractor), equipped with a substantial metal plate (known as a blade) used to push large quantities of soil, sand, rubble, etc., during construction work and typically equipped at the rear with a claw-like device (known as a ripper) to loosen densely-compacted materials. The term "bulldozer" is often used to mean any heavy equipment (sometimes a loader and sometimes an excavator), but precisely, the term refers only to a tractor (usually tracked) fitted with a dozer blade.
